Invariant Features for Gray Scale Images
نویسنده
چکیده
Invariant features are image characteristics which remain unchanged under the action of a transformation group. We consider in this paper image rotations and translations and present algorithms for constructing invariant features. After brieey sketching the theoretical background we develop algorithms for recognizing several objects in a single scene without the necessity to segment the image beforehand. The objects can be rotated and translated independently. Moderate occlusions are tolerable. Furthermore we show how to use these techniques for the recognition of articulated objects. The methods work directly with the gray values and do not rely on the extraction of geometric primitives like edges or corners in a preprocessing step. All algorithms have been implemented and tested both on synthetic and real image data. We present some illustrative experimental results.

The paper presents techniques for the construction of invariant gray scale features. That are characteristics of gray scale images which remain constant if the images are transformed according to the action of a transformation group. We rst introduce a general method applicable to arbitrary transformation groups and specialize the results afterwards to the group of image rotations and translati...
متن کاملDPML-Risk: An Efficient Algorithm for Image Registration
Targets and objects registration and tracking in a sequence of images play an important role in various areas. One of the methods in image registration is feature-based algorithm which is accomplished in two steps. The first step includes finding features of sensed and reference images. In this step, a scale space is used to reduce the sensitivity of detected features to the scale changes. Afterw...

The images of dental CBCT imaging systems used in conic shaped beams, stored in the DICOM format, have various applications in the dentistry, including bone density estimation to select the location of the orthodontic implant, bone loss detection and etc. In these systems, unlike CT imaging systems, the resulting images exhibit gray-scale non-uniformity in each of the different axis in FOV. Thi...

An image retrieval system is a computer system for browsing, searching and retrieving images from a large database of digital images. A robust natural and geographic image retrieval using a supervised classifier which concentrates on extracted features is proposed. Gray level cooccurrence matrix (GLCM), Scale invariant feature technique(SIFT) and moment invariant features are implemented to ext...
متن کاملTexture classification using invariant ranklet features
A novel invariant texture classification method is proposed. Invariance to linear/nonlinear monotonic gray-scale transformations is achieved by submitting the image under study to the ranklet transform, an image processing technique relying on the analysis of the relative rank of pixels rather than on their gray-scale value. Some texture features are then extracted from the ranklet images resul...
